Caring for Apple Trees
The Challenge and Solution
The problem apple trees have is that they grow until they destroy themselves. When an apple trees limbs grow too big, they will crack or break. When this happens the apple tree gets sick.
If one good limb touches another good limb, than they will scratch each other and harm the tree.
When you prune the apple trees, they will produce less apples, but the apples will be bigger and tastier.
Apple trees are good for nature
Apple trees are good for nature because limbs help grow more trees, and an apple tree is one of the few animal feeders. Animals need food, and when they eat apples they get a lot of fat. When it is below 0 degrees farenheit, the deer can lay in the snow and live off the fat they stored while eating apples.
How to prune the apple trees
Stand back and look at the tree. Any branches straight up you have to cut, keep the branches left and right, and close to the ground (for the animals). Your tree should be 12 to 14 feet tall. You should prune your apple trees every year.
